Thank you for your interest in becoming a special ranger with Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA).
TSCRA employs 30 professional law enforcement officers who are strategically positioned throughout Texas and Oklahoma to investigate agricultural theft. TSCRA special rangers are commissioned by the Texas Department of Public Safety and/or the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
In the rare instances when a position becomes available, applicants must meet these minimum requirements to be considered for an interview:
- U.S. citizen
- Excellent physical condition
- Outstanding record of at least five (5) years of active law enforcement experience, including criminal investigative experience
- NOTE: Military police experience does not count toward the five (5) years of required experience
- Hold an active peace officers license
- Meet the approval of Texas Department of Public Safety and/or Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation
- Current in all mandated training required by respective state licensing agency
- Extensive background in the livestock (cattle) industry
- Pass a thorough and comprehensive background investigation
- Pass a polygraph and psychological evaluation
- No criminal history of (and not limited to) felony criminal convictions, family violence, DWI or DUI convictions
- Of good moral character and habits
- Good driving record
- Possess a valid Texas driver’s license free of any restrictions that would compromise the applicant’s ability to perform duties
Fort Worth Headquarters
The Director of Development is primarily responsible for leading the fundraising efforts of Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association’s charitable entities. This position collaborates with TSCRA Special Ranger Foundation and TSCRA Leadership Development Foundation to steward donors, implement fundraising plans and manage the full lifecycle of grants.
Essential Job Functions:
- Research and identify new donors and actively diversify the organization’s donor base across corporations, individuals, and foundations in line with goals and objectives of TSCRA.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate TSCRA member fundraising activities such as giving campaigns, silent or live auctions and fundraising appeals.
- Write and prepare compelling grant proposals that build a case for donor support of TSCRA programs and entities.
- Manage the full lifecycle of successful grants, including the internal tracking of program deliverables, reporting deadlines, and coordination with other departments to submit timely reports.
- Meticulously maintain CRM database (SalesForce) logging donor, prospect, and fundraising activity information.
- Steward relationships with donors through ongoing correspondence, meetings, and events.
Additional Job Functions:
- Collaborate with various departments to annually develop a fundraising plan, ensuring transparency, collaboration and understanding across staff.
- Work in conjunction with sponsorship and sales staff to implement coordinated solicitations.
- Regularly assess fundraising progress, identifying areas of growth and strategies to improve.
- Prepare and distribute internal reports to track fundraising performance and fundraising goals.
- Stay informed of fundraising and industry trends that can support and influence TSCRA fundraising efforts.
- Support the development of fundraising materials and resources including brochures, presentations, and fundraising appeals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Experience in development, fundraising, grant writing or similar role.

2025 Spring Internships
The Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association is accepting applications for the 2025 Cattle Raisers Convention & Expo internship held April 11-12, 2025. The convention internship allows students to gain experience and knowledge in the beef cattle industry while making connections with some of the industry’s highest leaders. The experience allows students to get a behind-the-scenes look of hosting an event for the largest agricultural trade association in Texas.
General Responsibilities
- Assist TSCRA staff with a variety of meetings and events at the convention and expo. TSCRA staff will direct students in specific duties at meetings and events.
- Internship will include a wide range of responsibilities, including registering attendees, setting up meetings, working trade show booths and event space, assisting speakers, overseeing meeting sign-ins, youth events, and other general duties as required.
Qualifications / Specifics
- College student at an accredited university at time of application.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
- Must be available to work April 8-13, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas.
- Background in the agriculture industry preferred but not required.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills.

The Fort Worth internship is a full-time internship located at the headquarters office in Fort Worth. TSCRA will encourage students to experience a wide range of work and departments, to network with industry leaders and gain access to the agriculture industry as a whole.
General Responsibilities
- Students will work with several departments including communications, education, events and membership.
- Students will assist staff in the planning and preparation for the 2025 Cattle Raisers Convention & Expo including working with vendors, speakers, on-site interns, meeting coordination and more.
- Students will be asked to attend industry trade show events, bull sales, field days and more on behalf of TSCRA.
- Students will be asked to perform a multitude of generic office tasks such as data entry, mailings, filings and other administrative tasks.
Qualifications / Specifics
- Must be a college student at an accredited university or recently obtained a degree.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA recommended.
- Be available mid-January to mid-May, with flexibility on school schedule and online classes.
- Willing to relocate and live in Fort Worth, during the duration of internship.
- Agricultural industry experience preferred but not required.

The government relations internship is a full-time internship that requires relocation to Austin. The internship frequently requires participants to work outside of traditional business hours. Participants are expected to wear business professional attire each day.
General Responsibilities
- Students will serve an integral role on the government relations team by advocating on behalf of TSCRA’s members at the Texas Capitol during the 89th Legislative Session.
- Students will regularly interact with and work closely with elected officials and their staff, and as such should always conduct themselves within a professional manner.
- Students will assist in monitoring, analyzing, reporting and acting on legislative and regulatory issues impacting TSCRA members.
- Students will serve as event coordinators for TSCRA’s government relations office and the Cattle Raisers PAC fundraising events.
- Students can expect to perform operational office tasks such as answering phones, managing office supply inventory, coordinating in-office meetings, etc.
Qualifications / Specifics
- Must be a college student at an accredited university pursuing or recently obtained degree in agriculture, political science, government or a related field.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA recommended.
- Be available mid-January to mid-May, with flexibility on school schedule and online classes.
- Willing to relocate and live in Austin, during duration of internship.
- Office attire is business professional most days.
- Agricultural industry experience and knowledge of the issues affecting it preferred.
- Strong communication, writing and organizational skills.
- Experience working with commonly used computer hardware and software packages.
